Hi Everyone!

Welcome to Day 2 of Rubeena's Craftversary Blog Hop! If you are taking part in the hop, you have come to my blog via the very talented Cheiron Brandon's Blog! I am so delighted to join over 70 guest designers to celebrate friendship and our wonderful crafting industry through which I have had the honour of making some very special friends :)

I've made a mixed media card using products by Altenew and Wow Embossing Powder and I've made a video with a voiceover on how I made it:

Here's a close up of all that textured gorgeousness! How beautiful is that Gold Rich Ultra High Wow Embossing Powder?

I made a stencil using Altenew's Cube Cover Die which I adore:

I used Altenew's Script Words Die for the "love" sentiment and the heat embossed sentiment is from Altenew's Crafty Friends Stamp Set and I used Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder in Superfine by Wow:

Thank you so much for watching!

This hop is epic with more than 70 guests and over $1,000 in sponsored prizes! Not only are we celebrating four years since Rubeena first discovered cardmaking but also crafting in general. Altenew August 2018 Blog Hop!

Hi Everyone!

Today I am excited and honoured to take part in Altenew's Blog Hop to celebrate their August release. This post is very picture heavy as I was very inspired by the beautiful products, I couldn't help myself :)

If you are taking part in the blog hop, you might have arrived here via Agnieszka Malyszek's Blog. If you would like to hop along with the rest of the participants, you can start at Altenew's Card Blog and I will leave all the blog links at the end of the post.

There is a giveaway as well which you can see the details of at the very end of my post!

The first cards I made were made using the Smiles and Hugs stamp and Die Set, Geo Frames Die Set, and I've even used a sentiment from Script Words Die 3!

You can watch the video on how I made these easy box frame dies here:

Here's closer look at the Dahlia flowers from the Smiles and Hugs Set which I coloured using Arteza Brush Markers and stamped with Permanent Black Ink:

This is the closeup of the card I made in the video:

The next card was made with Hello Gorgeous Stamp Set and Die. The green border was stamped using the Halftone Squares Stamp Set using Frayed Leaf Crisp Dye Ink. I heat embossed the flowers from the set in WOW Gold Rich Pale Embossing Powder and water coloured them! I added splatters with gold and black ink for additional interest.

Here's a closer look at the card made using the Hello Gorgeous Stamp and Die Set:

This card was also made with the Hello Gorgeous Stamp Set and Die. I stamped and die cut the frame using Geo Frames Stamp and Die:

Close up of the heat embossing with the Hello Gorgeous Set and Geo Frames Set:

My next card was made using the the Halftone Squares Stamp set again using various Altenew Inks. The "sweet" sentiment is from Script Words Die 3. I stamped out the background first and made an eclipse card using the die! I love how this turned out :)

And here's a closer look at how finely detailed this stamp is! Plus I adore that gradient effect:

The Inks I used for the above card are in order: Midnight Violet, Heart Beat, Orange Cream, Fresh Lemon, Sweet Leaf, Turquoise, and Lavender Fields.

My next card was made using the Mega Greetings 2 Stamp and Die set. I used the Halftone Squares Stamp on the "happy" die cut using Tide Blue Ink. Can you tell that I am in love with the Halftones Squares set, haha?! I used the Halftone Squares Die set to do some dry embossing on the background panel for some subtle texture.

Here's a closer look at the dry embossing and stamping. The "happy" was die cut several times and I stacked them up to get that chipboard style dimensional look:

My last project was a frame that I made to hang in my home using the Smiles and Hugs Stamp and Die set and I die cut the sentiment from Script Words 3 using gold metallic mirror card!

I've made a very short time lapse video on how I assembled the wreath:

And here's a closeup of the wreath and you can see the brilliant shine of the metallic die cut Welcome:

Thank you so much for taking a peek at my blog and the next stop in your hop is the uber-super-duper talented Erum Tasneem!

A very special thank you to Altenew for including me in this brilliant lineup of guest designers!

Video Tutorial: Encaustic Embossing

This is a technique that I have been developing and demonstrating for years: Encaustic Embossing!

I love the effects that you can achieve with encaustic wax and when I was first introduced to the technique, I wondered if it was possible to do this with embossing powder, and the answer is ... YES!

WOW Embossing Powder: Bluetiful, Fuchsia Fusion, Rose Glitnz. Altenew: Script Words Dies

WOW! Embossing Powder: Fuchsia Fusion, Blue Topaz, Silver Ultra High. Altenew: Thinking of You Stamp

You will have to use a non-steam iron for this as a encaustic iron will not get hot enough as the embossing powders melt at a higher temperature than wax.

WOW Embossing Powder: Lagoon, Oyster Glitnz, Gold Ultra High, Go Figure Stamp. Altenew: Thinking of You.

WOW Embossing Powder: Pixie, Lemon, Inca Glintz, Gold Ultra High, White Ultra High, Wall Art Stamp. Altnew: Thinking of You

I would also recommend using transluscent embossing powders, but you can use any embossing powder that you have in your stash. I have used a variety of the WOW Primary Embossing Powders which can be found in the links below.

WOW Embossing Powder: Lemon, Pixie, Gold Ultra High. Altenew: Thinking of You

Video Focus: 8 Card Ideas with Altenew Cube Cover Die

Today I'm sharing a few ideas on how to use Altenew's Cube Cover Die which I am obsessed with! When I saw this die, I knew I had to have it, it has a clean and simple geometric look which lends itself really well to many different card designs.

I have made a video with a voice over (please excuse my voice as I am recovering from a cold) showing how you can use the die in many different ways. I'm also testing out a new software which has been a major learning curve for me and unfortunately I have had a little trouble with the sound, apologies for this, I am hoping to improve on this for the future!

There are so many other ways you can use this die which I have not mentioned including using the die cut as a stencil which you can use with inks, sprays and event embossing paste.

Altenew and Birch Press have layering cover plate dies and some of them can be quite expensive so I decided to experiment to see if I could replicate the look with a single die and when I saw the Cube Cover Die, I knew I had to give it a go.

Thank you very much for taking the time to watch my video and read my blog! If you have any questions, please do let me know and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I hope that this has given you lots of idea on the many ways that you can us this versatile die.

Have a lovely day!

Video Tutorial: Triple Embossing With Intent!

This is one of my favourite take on triple embossing, as you can take advantage of the properties of various embossing powders! The finished project has a gorgeous faux metallic finish.

The video also gives a brief overview on how to use Melt-It, mixing and using Sparkles Premium Glitter to create 3D shapes. It also shows off how to highlight embossed surfaces with Fab Foils which really brings out the details. This is of my most favourite styl of classes to teach!

Click on the video below to see how I completed the whole project!

And here's a closeup of all that textured deliciousness:
