Manly card and Feel Better Soon card

Some weeks ago, I impulsively bought a set of embossing powders full of yummy colours.

To be honest, I bought it for the teal coloured one, which is my favourite colour these days :) I used it to create the background for the first card. This month's card challenge at Hero Arts included creating a masculine card, which is something of a challenge for me. Most of the things I make are not overly girly, they aren't exactly cards that could be given to guys. I had a hard time choosing an image from my HA stamps collection, and I am resisting the urge to buy more stamps (mantra: Ihavetosavemoney*breathe*Ihavetosavemoney) so I settled with this cake image from Celebrate All Day CL292, stamped it on some papers from Basic Grey's Marrakesh collection and paper pieced it together.

It was really frustrating making the second card, but I quite like how it turned out in the end. I decided to make this card for an office friend who has come down with chicken pox, poor thing. First the card kept slipping around as I was cutting it with my EK Success Circle Scissor; I had to tack it down with some re-positionable adhesive. And then I tried to punch (EK Success Abstract Flower Slim Edger) through two layers of cardstock which I now realise was a bit too ambitious. For a few horrible minutes I thought I had ruined my favourite border punch :(

I tried using watercolour with the Starburst Lace like I did on this card, and I managed to tip all of the water onto my table and carpet :'(

Oh well, after so much drama, I was glad to finally finish off the card.

Disclaimer: no punches were harmed in the making of this card ;)

Thanks for peeking in! ^^
