A challenge and exciting news!

My very first entry into a Moxie Fab World Challenge: Textured to Perfection. I really loved how this tag uses gesso to get some texture on the background, and gesso being my must have product, I decided to give this technique a try!

Stencil: Crafter's Workshop: Mini Numbers Collage
Sentiment: Hero Arts CL129
Wow! Embossing Powders: Primary Colours Sherbet Regular, Ebony Superfine

I taped the stencil down to my card and glopped (how technical hehe) gesso on with a paint brush making sure that I had texture rather than paint strokes. I let it dry naturally (or you can use a heat gun to speed it up) and then inked the entire gesso'd surface with Fired Brick Distress Ink, Walnut Stain and Chipped Saphire around the edges.  I set that aside to dry, as gesso will want to resist the Distress Inks if you touch it. In the meanwhile, I made a chain of square knots with embroidery floss and ink that with Walnut Stain.

The sentiment was stamped once with Versamark once, and dusted Ebony Superfine embossing powder onto it. Then with a thin brush, I wiped the embossing powder off the word "heart." I heat set the Ebony Superfine, and then inked the sentiment stamp once again, concentrating on "heart" and restamped the same heat set sentiment. I dusted Sherbet Regular onto the the word "heart" brushed off the rest with my thin brush and heat set the Sherbet Regular powder. I adhered some punched out open scallops (EK Success) to the back, and assembled the whole card using foam tape for added dimension. I am loving the look, I will try this technique out on other projects too. Here is a closeup:

I love how Fired Brick turns out pink on gesso!
Exciting news is that I have been chosen to be on the Design team for Wow! Embossing powders! I am so very pleased, I will be designing projects for them to display at various shows. The next one will be NEC in Birmingham, this will be my first time attending! I am have a some ideas buzzing around in my head at the moment, and here is one WIP:

Vintage Printers Tray with Tim Holtz Alphas. It's going to be a massive project! :D
And here's what came in the post, tell me it does not make you drool:

Yum yum!
I am very very pleased. I might do a give away in the near future and do some videos introducing the lovely range. There are over 150 colours to choose from!!!

Thanks for stopping by :)
